Normally, the announcement of something, anything, from the Halo universe is a big, big deal at E3. While Halo 3: ODST is a big deal for Halo fans, it’s clear the uber-tease (in fact, I don’t even know if the Reach trailer is a tease—more like a CGI space tour) about the secretive Reach project overshadowed this meaty, multi-disc installment of Bungie’s prodigious IP.
A quick note for those planning on holding onto their ducats until Reach extends to store shelves: The “Extras” section of disc one of Halo 3: ODST will be the launch point for Reach’s multiplayer beta. This makes it wise to invest in the Halo universe sooner than later—besides, ODST’s dual-DVD’s are jam-packed, and appear worth the money for a Halo 3 episode pack…at least from what I gathered during a twenty minute demo at E3.
